Carol Mo
Sunset Community Convener
Carol Mo transitioned into the Sunset Community Convener position at SNBC in September 2007. Her efforts as the Sunset Community Convener will include connecting community members to Sunset community events and programs. The citywide Community Convener Initiative aims to strengthen the network of services available to children, youth and families in San Francisco through employing a variety of community-driven strategies and solutions. In her new role, she will continue to outreach to Sunset District residents to encourage participation in neighborhood initiatives and groups, including the Sunset District Neighborhood Coalition, Friends of Sunset Playground, the Sunset Community Festival, and the Westside Neighbors To End Homelessness. As a Sunset resident, Carol also volunteers for the Sunset Community Court. The Sunset Community Court program allows residents to address safety and crime issues in their neighborhood.
Before assuming the Community Convener role, Carol joined SNBC as the Safety Network Program Community Organizer in August 2006. She also had a variety of work experiences in San Francisco as a research assistant, mental health counselor, parenting hotline counselor, and social worker. Carol believes that to ensure the healthy development of Sunset youth and families, it is essential that vital community and city services are accessible to them. Community convening is one way to ensure that these vital services are available to youth and families.
