Throughout the year, we hold a number of community events open to all Sunset District residents. Join us in celebrating our neighborhood! Annual free events include SNBC’s Community Film Festival, Lights On Afterschool, and community barbeques. Visit our calendar to see when we’re hosting our next community event, or when you can find us at a neighborhood celebration!

Featured Event: Sunset Soiree 2013

The Sunset Soiree is SNBC’s marquee event of the year, held at the historic Victorian Zellerbach Mansion on Fell Street. All proceeds raised at the event support SNBC’s wide range of services and programs, all of which are free to community members. It’s a lively event with great food, beer and wine, music, silent and live auctions and a raffle. And this year, we are delighted to have Congresswoman Jackie Speier and Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, House Democratic Leader, join us as honorary hosts!

Lights On Afterschool

LOA1Each October, SNBC celebrates the importance of afterschool programs for Sunset District kids and families. Every year on the 3rd Thursday in October, SNBC and thousands of communities across the country shine a light on afterschool programs with Lights On Afterschool, an event that recognizes how important afterschool programs are for our kids as they learn and grow.

This year, SNBC celebrated Lights On Afterschool with various events at each of our afterschool programs. Students at Francis Scott Key and Ulloa Elementary Schools participated in parades around the neighborhood, while Sunset Elementary and A.P. Giannini Middle School welcomed parents to join their kids in participating in afterschool activities.

At Robert Louis Stevenson Elementary, students, families, and staff took part in a carnival (complete with a “Pie Your Teacher” activity!) and at West Sunset Rec Connect, students created an outdoor art installation to literally shine a light on their afterschool program.
