The Safety Network Program assists

priorities for the neighborhood; conduct outreach and education;
set goals and objectives for advocating for change in the
neighborhood; and help to implement crime prevention and public
safety strategies in the Sunset District.

In collaboration with the Taraval
Police District, the Safety Network Program has developed a work
plan that addresses specific issues affecting the Sunset District.
This work plan is an
evolving document meant to reflect the input and interests of the

The Sunset Neighborhood
Beacon Center (SNBC) is a community resource that brings diverse
people together and facilitates their civic
involvement.

The SNBC Community Council is composed of youth,
parents, community members, businesses and representatives from
neighborhood. Since establishing itself in 1996, SNBC has
been extremely successful in engaging young people in its
programs. Presently, SNBC is placing special emphasis on
strengthening its connections with the broader Sunset
community. To this end, the SNBC Community Council is always
looking to recruit additional membership.

The SNBC Community Council's current role is to
serve as both a project-oriented group that helps to provide
support and resources at SNBC's events. Additionally, it
serves as an advisory body for SNBC staff to receive input on
school-based and community programming in the Sunset.
