16 17 apg schedule

Typical Day

Our students' daily schedule is broken up into four parts : Snack/Supper and Recess, Tribe, Project-Based Clubs and Wacky Weekday Activities. Immediately afterschool, students report to the cafeteria to sign themselves in and get one free hot supper. At 4:00, after announcements, students will follow their tribe leaders for tribe time. During this hour students will participate in speaking circles and get started on their homework. After Tribe, students then report to the project club of their choosing. Students will choose one club for 12 weeks, and then will rotate to another club of their choice. The last part of the day is made up of staff led activities, such as open computer lab, sports, and games in the cafeteria.

Special Events

At the end of every 12-week club cycle, students showcase their projects through performances, artwork, and displays of all sorts. This showcase event takes place roughly 3 times each year and is called Beacon Fest. Families, APG Faculty, and the Community are all invited to attend and celebrate the creative hard work of all our students! In addition to this event, the after school Beacon program loves to host events such as school dances, parties, and other community-building extravaganzas. Our cooking club also collaborates wth SNBC's Family Programs in putting together Free Family Movie Nights held throughout the school year.
