Michael Falsetto-Mapp

Program Coordinator Sunset Media Wave

Michael Falsetto-Mapp is a California kid. Born in Monterey, CA and raised in the Bay Area, he graduated from The Evergreen State College in 2006 with a Bachelor's Degree concentrating on Design, Music, and Education.

Michael began volunteering at A.P. Giannini Middle School with SNBC’s Urban Music Program (UMP) in 1998, while he was still in High School. Initially, a DJ Club for middle school students, the Urban Music Program has grown into a full audio program that provides middle school youth with various outlets for artistic expression.

Michael officially joined SNBC in 2007 as a UMP Program leader. In his time at SNBC, he’s spearheaded DJ programs at the Richmond Village Beacon at George Washington High School (in 2002), Stonehurst Elementary School (in 2009) in Oakland, and Ulloa Elementary School (in 2012).

Michael is currently the Coordinator of Sunset Media Wave, a mixed-media blog run by High School students out of SNBC's community storefront. Michael continues to support UMP as an instructor and is the A.P. Giannini Middle School Lunchtime Coordinator. Monday through Wednesday he runs LEVEL UP! - a lunchtime club that explores different genres of video games.

In 2007, Michael and Jon Bernson started the band Exray's, which has led to numerous albums, tours, and performances with some of today's most futuristic music makers. Exray's is also known for their song in David Fincher's blockbuster movie, The Social Network as well as the ongoing Vessel XII Project, which has taken their music into the realms of science fiction and multimedia art.
