Reggie Valenzuela

Beacon Director at Herbert Hoover Middle School

Reginald (Reggie) was born in San Francisco and raised in Daly City, Ca. As a Bay Area native and first generation Filipino American, Reggie is always looking for ways to give back to his community. Reggie’s passion for youth began at the age of 16 when he started volunteering for his local church in Daly City.

Reggie attended San Francisco State University to pursue a degree in Asian American Studies, however he fell in love with the field of education more while participating in PEP: Pin@y Educational Partnerships, teaching Filipino American studies to schools in SFUSD.

Reggie has worked with a variety of community-focused organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area: Jumpstart, the YMCA of San Francisco, Up on Top, and Safepassages. Reggie was also a teacher in the San Francisco independent school system as well.

After teaching he found himself at Paul Revere K-8 in Bernal Heights in 2014; starting out as the Assistant Site Coordinator and assuming the position of Site Coordinator the following year. Now in his 4th year with Bay Area Community Resources (BACR)—and his first year with SNBC-- Reggie has made the transition to Herbert Hoover Middle School as the Site Coordinator.
