Nathaniel Carter began working with SNBC in 2000 as a contracted computer class instructor and assumed his current role as Technology Coordinator in 2001. As the primary IT personnel for SNBC, he supports SNBC’s technology needs and manages the technological resources at multiple sites, including SNBC’s three community computer labs.
Nathaniel works to integrate technology throughout SNBC’s programs and provide the community with educational opportunities that are focused on and enhanced by technology. Offerings include basic and advanced computer classes for participants ranging in age from 10 to 80. Nathaniel also provides leadership to several of SNBC’s youth programs, including SCREAM, a high school filmmaking group; MOUSE Squad, a student-led technical support program at A.P. Giannini Middle School; and BAMboozled.org, a online literary platform for and by high school-aged youth.
Nathaniel earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from San Francisco State University and holds an MBA in Sustainability from Presidio Graduate School. He has been a volunteer adult ally with TEAM! and is a long-time drummer with the Brazilian music and dance group Fogo Na Roupa. He enjoys chess, literature, and guitar.
